Luxury Watches For Children ?

My son Nelson is 13 years old. I want to buy him a nice watch. Preferably a status symbol such as a Rolex or an Omega. We do have the money so the financial issues are of no problem. The only thing I am wondering is it appropriate for a child his age to own a luxury watch. I have seen most of his friends watches and they are mostly swatches or toy-watches. In my personal opinion a children's watch should not just be plastic it can have precious metals such as gold, white gold or even platinum. If I could also have children answer that would also be great.
