Im confused... question about columbian exchange?

For my report im taking about china around the 1500s.. and i know that they close off from the rest of the world at some time during the ming dynasty but when did they begin trading again?? did the columbian exchange affect them at all or was it only between america and europe? where did china stand in all of this??? thanks
